The company was founded in 1888 by Albert Guarnieri in downtown Warren, Ohio. Mr. Guarnieri was "noted as one of the most progressive and up to date businessmen in the area and was highly esteemed in trade circles." - From the 1906 Chronicle Souvenier
Throughout the years the company has continued to grow. In 1954 the present building was constructed. Several expansions have since taken place.
Technology has been at the forefront of many of our changes. In 1971, Albert Guarnieri & Co. was one of the early wholesalers to successfully computerize, providing retail customers with computer invoices, retail velocity reports, Telxon ordering systems, computerized warehouse pick systems and a retail pricing service.
Since 1985, we have added our Food Service and Grocery Divisions, Midstates Fund Raising, Full Line Restaurant and Concession Equipment and a Special Markets Program. From these new divisions emerged Papa Al's Pizza & Deli and many private labeled products such as Papa Al's Cheeses, Montevallo Coffee, Cappuccino and Water. This makes Albert Guarnieri & Company truly your most complete full line distributor. We have developed a team approach, using experts from all fields to help you assess your needs, plan your attack and increase your profits.
Albert Guarnieri & Company has continued to expand into areas to meet customer needs including an increasing refridgerated truck fleet, store planning & layout, cross marketing programs, an expanded ice cream service, sign shop, our Food & Trade Show in the spring.
Recognizing our customers need for personal attention, our staff has been increased with proven specialists in many fields such as store development, deli & bakery management, food preparation and menu planning, technical support, merchandising and graphic design.
In 2003 a major physical expansion was completed with the addition of loading docks, warehouse space and increased freezer space allowing us to increase our in-stock inventory. Customer parking, modernized offices with new data and communication facilities plus conference seminar rooms were also added. We also established a test kitchen to develop new menu items and facilitate customer demonstrations, sampling and in house training.
All of our development plans are made with the needs of the customer in mind. "What can we do to better service our customers" is a question we strive to answer each and every day.
